A partir de 1681, trabalha em parceria com Jean Antoine Cramer (1655-1725) e imprime sob o nome de «Léonard Chouet et Cie». Humbert\"s son Jean, who had lived in Geneva since 1585, was a cloth merchant. His two sons, Pierre and Jacques, citizens of Geneva in 1603, inherited their uncle\"s bookshop fund from their uncle Jacques in 1606 and both became printers and publishers. Around 1626\/27, they acquired the books of the printers \u003cem\u003eEstienne\u003c\/em\u003e and gave a great boost to Geneva\"s publishing activity. The next generation includes three booksellers: Jacques, Samuel and Pierre. Léonard Chouet is part of the fourth generation, together with Jean-Antoine, who also owned a paper mill in Allemogne (Pays de Gex) and in 1700 took part in founding the society «\u003cem\u003eChouet, de Tournes, Cramer, Perachon, Ritter, de Tournes\u003c\/em\u003e», from which he withdrew in 1709, after having sold his share to the other partners.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThroughout the 17th century, the Chouet family, together with the de Tournes family, dominated the Geneva book trade.
