Constitui exemplo paradigmÃ¡tico dos artistas viajantes, repÃ³rteres de acontecimentos, ambientes e costumes que, numa cadÃªncia aventureira, cruzavam a Europa no perÃ­odo conturbado do final do sÃ©culo XVIII. Visitou recorrentemente Portugal, tendo mesmo integrado o exÃ©rcito britÃ¢nico. Esta Ã© a sua obra mais conhecida, e demonstra a sua admiraÃ§Ã£o pelo herÃ³i da Guerra Peninsular. As estampas que, por indicaÃ§Ã£o da imprensa, parecem ter saÃ­do avulsas, sÃ£o Ã¡guas-tinta do prÃ³prio lâ€™Ã‰vÃªque e de Bartolozzi, Heath, Vendramini, Filter Comte e Schiavonetti.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e[EN] 58x43 cm. This copy does not have the set of four loose prints that were part of the edition and are still present in some copies. They are followed by 19 folios with the 18 engravings with the above-mentioned description, plus a map with the scheme of action of the Battle of Vigia de la Barrosa, which is not listed in the previous descriptions. This is his best-known work and it shows his admiration for the hero of the Peninsular War.
