As folhas de guarda foram renovadas e apresenta ex-libris oleográfico da antiga e extinta biblioteca da Quinta das Lágrimas, em Coimbra.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIlustrado com um magnífico frontispício arquitectónico gravado, representando a alegoria da Igreja como soberana, ladeada pelas figuras de S. Teotónio e S. Carlos Borromeo. Texto impresso dentro de quadrilongos tipográficos.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApós o texto das constituições, que ocupam as primeiras 382 páginas, segue-se o Regimento do Auditório Eclesiástico.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eExemplar raríssimo, com leves vestígios de manchas de humidade e alguns danos marginais recuperados nas últimas páginas do regimento, sem perda de texto.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEste exemplar é a 3ª versão das Constituições Sinodais do Bispado de Viseu, de cinco publicadas pela primeira vez em 1527 [publicada sem data] e, posteriormente, em 1556, 1617, 1684 e 1745.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs folhas preliminares contêm Licenças no verso da folha de rosto datadas de 30 de Outubro de 1614 a 23 de Junho de 1616, sendo a principal subscrita por Francisco Pereira, Provisão do Bispo D. João Manuel, datada de 24 de Fevereiro de 1617, um índice dos livros, títulos e constituições e um índice das partes das constituições, que deverão ser lidas ao povo, repartidas pelos meses do ano. As páginas sem numeração que se seguem às constituições contêm uma página em branco, uma folha também em branco e duas páginas com o índice do Regimento.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eExemplar com 4 marcas de posse: carimbo oleográfico de uma biblioteca sobre temas hípicos, um ex-libris de J. Pinto Ferreira, integrando o pelourinho de Leomil, desenhado por Paes Ferreira em 1991, e uma etiqueta dourada com a inscrição Alcobaça MB, todos eles no interior da pasta posterior e um carimbo de posse oleográfico da Biblioteca da Quinta das Lágrimas na folha de rosto.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eConjunto de legislação promulgada pelo Bispo de Viseu distribuída por 5 livros que integram 40 títulos, cada um com vários números. O 1º livro aborda a Santa Fé e os 7 Sacramentos; o 2º livro, os assuntos relativos às Igrejas; o 3º, as questões relativas aos eclesiásticos; o 4º trata «das cousas que indistintamente pertencem a todos»; e o 5º livro as censuras, os delitos e as respectivas penas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eO Regimento do Auditório Eclesiástico está dividido em 21 artigos nos quais se determinam as funções e os poderes dos diversos funcionários que integram este órgão da diocese, consagrado a instruir e julgar casos de violação das normas das constituições episcopais e do direito canónico, bem como os valores das custas dos documentos por eles elaborados. Os referidos funcionários eram, entre outros, o provisor, o vigário geral, os visitadores, o promotor de justiça, os advogados, os escrivães e notários apostólicos. Inclui pautas musicais nas páginas 77 a 79 com os hinos que se deviam cantar em certas ocasiões nomeadamente nas visitações.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eObra de excepcional valor tanto pelas suas características bibliográficas, grande raridade e integridade do exemplar, que inclui a folha em branco em falta no exemplar da BNP, como por ser imprescindível e de grande importância para o estudo dos mais variados aspectos da vida em sociedade que, durante todo o antigo regime, eram controlados pela Igreja através da rede de paróquias e das visitações que, além das funções de culto a Deus, eram também mecanismos de disciplina social, assegurando a existência de uma sociedade pacífica e hierarquizada segundo as normas da Igreja.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNa BNP quase todos os exemplares desta edição se encontram mutilados ou incompletos.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e[EN] In folio (27.5x19.5 cm) with [26], 377, [5], 156 pp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBinding: 18th century slightly worn full calf with raised bands and gilt tools on spine. There were published fiver versions: the first in 1527 [published without date] , then in 1556, 1617, 1684, and 1745.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe preliminary pages contain: Licences on the back of the title page, dated Ocotber 30th, 1614 to June 23rd, 1616, being the main one signed by Francisco Pereira; Provision of Bishop D. João Manuel, dated February 24, 1617; an index of the books, titles, and constitutions; and an index of the parts of the constitutions that should be read to the public divided by the months of the year. The unnumbered pages that follow the constitutions contain a blank page, a blank sheet, and two pages with the index of the Rule.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCopy with four ownership titles: ink stamp of a library with horse-back riding themes; an ex-libris of J. Pinto Ferreira with the pillory of Leomil designed by Paes Ferreira in 1991; a golden label with the inscription “Alcobaça MB”, allof them in the back of the back board; and the already mentioned ink stamp of the Library of Quinta das Lágrimas on the title page.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA set of laws issued by the Bishop of Viseu divided in five books containing forty titles, each with several numbers. The first book is about the Holy Faith and the seven sacraments; the second the matters concerning churches; the third the issues related to the ecclesiastics; the fourth about “the things that indistinctly apply to all”; and the fifth includes the censorships, the crimes and their penalties.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Rule of the Ecclesiastic Auditorium is divided into 21 articles determining the functions and powers of the several workers of this diocese body that is aimed to instruct and judge cases of violation of the rules of the episcopal constitutions and the canon law, as well as the cost of the documents they issue. Those workers were, among others, the provider, the vicar general, the visitors, the public prosecutor, the lawyers, the apostolic registrars and notaries.
