La Lande, pág. 187.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eComo explica o autor no seu prefácio, a publicação foi motivada pelo aparecimento do cometa espetacular e extraordinariamente brilhante em Novembro de 1618, que ainda era visível em Janeiro de 1619.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eObra dedicado a Marino Gethaldo e dividido em 5 “livros”, tratando das teorias astronômicas de Copérnico, Tiko Brahe, Kepler, Galileu e outros.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEsta obra muito rara está repleta de informações curiosas, e encontramos nela a menção de uma espécie de telescópio (ou perspicillum), usado, diz-se, pelo Papa Leão X no início do século XVI.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA questão importante colocada nesta obra decorre do novo conceito de paralaxe, segundo o qual o autor assume pela primeira vez que os cometas são corpos efectivamente celestes, contrariamente à opinião anterior de Galileu.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGiovanni Camillo Glorioso (1572-1643), foi um famoso matemático e astrónomo italiano que se relacionou e se correspondeu (entre outros) com Clavius e Galileu.
