Esta falta verifica-se igualmente no único exemplar conhecido existente em Portugal, que está na Biblioteca Central de Marinha e por isso poderá dever-se a uma intervenção de censura da Inquisição. Por outro lado, conserva as três últimas folhas em branco do último caderno, em que as duas últimas servem de folhas de guarda.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEdição muito rara, que não é referida nas principais bibliografias incluindo Brunet. A primeira edição foi publicada em 1587. Estas edições foram publicadas por P. Canaye, Senhor de Fresnes, (1551 - 1610) que escreveu o prefácio.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA obra contém pormenorizadas descrições das batalhas das Guerras de religião em França, no século XVI, estudos sobre manobras militares e táctica, assim como reflexões sobre a situação do país e sobre os problemas dos protestantes franceses designados por Huguenotes. Napoleão admirava esta obra e disse que era: «a Bíblia do soldado»\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrançois de La Nouë (Château de la Gascherie, 1531 - Moncontour, 1591).
