Olivieri Leg.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLivro belíssimamente encadernado e impresso com caracteres tipográficos muito esmaltados sobre papel muito encorpado e alvo.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTrata-se de uma apresentação genealógica, no entanto sem diagrama ou árvore genealógica, podendo considerar-se uma “limpeza de sangue” da parte de Louis Desirée, Marquês de Montholon-Semonville. Louis Desirée vinha, desde o Primeiro Império, juntando títulos e condecorações nobiliárquicas (que não foram herdadas dos seus progenitores), nomeadamente Principe di Umbriano del Precetto, Conde de San Michele, Conde de Leé, Par hereditário de França, fidalgo da Câmara do Rei com a Honra do Louvre, Grande Cruz da Ordem de Cristo de Portugal, Comendador da Ordem da Coroa da Baviera, Cavaleiro de Malta, Oficial da Legião de Honra, entre outros.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eO prefaciador, Enrico Castreca Brunetti, e possívelmente também o autor por encomenda da obra, mostra a necessidade de juntar a dignidade titular aos putativos - mas não directos - ancestrais com o apelido de Montolon, recorrendo a uma recolha genealógica nos arquivos franceses, nos quais encontrou homónimos em todas as épocas desde a alta Idade Média. No final da obra colocou um índice onomástico dos sujeitos encontrados: Ana, António, Carlos, Catarina, Francisco, Joaquim, João, e assim por diante.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRelativamente ao título da obra - Memória Histórica acerca dos cardeais Monthelon – este refere-se a dois cardeais que supostamente viveram em duas épocas diferentes: Gilherme de Monthelon, no século XIV, e João de Monthelon, no século XVI. Ambos foram necessários ao autor para sacralizar o bom nome católico da genealogia. No entanto, actualmente duvida-se da sua existência por não se conhecer qualquer dado substantivo acerca dos mesmos. O primeiro terá sido cardeal em Avinhão no tempo dos anti-papas, cerca de 1355. O segundo terá sido cardeal em 1522 ou em 1538. Ambos têm uma biografia desconhecida e apenas aflorada nas palavras do texto.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA obra destinava-se, possivelmente, a ofertas pessoais e protocolares da parte de Louis Désiré de Monthelon. Em super-libris encontra-se impresso a ouro um M de Monthelon sob uma coroa, não se encontrando neste livro qualquer outro elemento heráldico. Trata-se de um excelente exemplo de como as pessoas da burguesia ascenderam, ou pretenderam ascender, aos títulos nobiliárquicos sem ascendentes e, posteriormente, também não deixando descendentes com um título válido e reconhecível.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNão se encontram referências bibliográficas desta obra.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e[EN] ARMORIAL BINDING OF THE ROYAL HOUSE – 19TH CENTURY\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDim.: In 4º (22x13.5 cm) with 43, [39] pp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eArmorial binding (M for Montelon, or M for Queen D. Maria II of Portugal, 1819-1853), in red velvet with magnificent gilt tools and monogram with the royal crown by the Italian book binder \"L. Olivieri Leg.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBeautifully bound book and printed with glazed characters on very white and thick paper.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGenealogic presentation, however with no diagram or family tree, that may be considered as a “cleaning of lineage” by Louis Desirée, Marquis de Montholon-Semonville. Louis Desirée was gathering, since the First Empire, titles and nobel decorations (which he didn’t herit from his parents), namely: Principe di Umbriano del Precetto; Count of San Michele; Count of Leé; Hereditary Peer of France; nobleman of the King’s Chamber with the Honour of Louvre; Grand Cross of the Military Order of Christ of Portugal; Commander of the Crown of Bavaria; Knight of the Malta Military Order; Officer of the Legion of Honour; among others.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe author of the foreword, Enrico Castreca Brunetti, shows the need to connect the titles with the prospective ancestors - though not direct – with the last name Montolon, resourcing to a genealogic gathering from the French archives,  in which he found homonyms since the Early Middle Ages. At the end of the book there is an onomastic index of the subjects found: Ana; António; Carlos; Catarina; Francisco; Joaquim; João; and so forth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn what concerns the title of the work – Historic Memory of the Monthelon cardinals – it refers to two cardinals who supposedly lived in two different periods: Wilhelm of Monthelon, in the 14\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e century, and John of Monthelon, in the 16\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e century. Both were key for the author to turn sacred the good catholic name of the genealogy. However, there is doubt nowadays that they ever existed. The first was allegedly cardinal in Avignon around 1355 at the time of the Antipope. The second had been cardinal in 1522 or 1538. Both of their biographies are unknown and they are just touched on on the words of the text.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis work was possibly intended for personal and protocol offers by Louis Désiré de Monthelon.
