Barbaro estudou filosofia, matemÃ¡tica e Ã³ptica na Universidade de PÃ¡dua. Desenvolveu uma significativa carreira polÃ­tica, ao serviÃ§o do governo veneziano como embaixador em Londres, junto ao patriarca da Aquileia e representante da RepÃºblica de Veneza no ConcÃ­lio de Trento (1561). Em 1557 foi eleito coadjutor do Patriarca da Aquileia, Giovanni Grimani.Â Era irmÃ£o de Marcantonio Barbaro com quemÂ  mandou construir a Villa Barbaro, em Treviso, sobre projecto de Palladio e, em 1565-67, foi retratado pelo pintor Paolo Veronese.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAndrea di Pietro della Gondola, conhecido por Palladio (PÃ¡dua, 1508 - Vicenza, 1580) foi um dos mais cÃ©lebres arquitectos da fase final do Renascimento Italiano. A partir de 1556 trabalhou sob o mecenato de Daniele Barbaro, tendo projectado numerosos edifÃ­cios, que se tornaram exemplos paradigmÃ¡ticos da arquitectura do Renascimento, em especial as 47 Villas rurais, na regiÃ£o de Vicenza e de Veneza, que sÃ£o hoje PatrimÃ³nio da Humanidade. Publicou em 1570, a obra \u003cem\u003eI Quattro Libri dell'Architettura\u003c\/em\u003e, em quatro volumesÂ  profusamente ilustrados, onde discute o seu prÃ³prio trabalho e o resultado das suas pesquisas sobre a arquitectura clÃ¡ssica.
