Por despacho de 1648, Deslandes naturaliza-se portuguÃªs para poder usufruir dos direitos de cidadania dos naturais do reino.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEm 1687, depois da morte de AntÃ³nio Craesbeeck de Melo, Ãºltimo tipÃ³grafo da sua famÃ­lia, Miguel Deslandes houve o tÃ­tulo e a honra do ofÃ­cio de impressor rÃ©gio. The Deslandes were famous in the 17th and 18th centuries for their beautifully adorned prints with vignettes, \u003cem\u003efleurons\u003c\/em\u003e and copper engravings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMiguel Deslandes married the daughter of the printer, bookseller and publisher Jean de la Coste (JoÃ£o da Costa) who was also based in Portugal, and inherited his father-in-law's printing equipment with which he printed many books in Portuguese, Latin, Spanish, French and Italian.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJean de la Coste, for his part, had acquired the material from the printer Augustin CourbÃ©. By order of 1648, Deslandes became a naturalised Portuguese citizen so that he could enjoy the citizenship rights of those born in the kingdom.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1687, after the death of AntÃ³nio Craesbeeck de Melo, the last printer in his family, Miguel Deslandes was given the title and honour of royal printer.
