Exerceu grande influência nos poetas da Graveyard Scholl, na Literatura Gótica e Romântica, mas influenciou especialmente o poeta e pintor William Blake (1757-1827) que se inspirou nesta obra - Meditações, para realizar um conjunto de pinturas entre 1820 e 1825.
