The other reason for creating this work was because at that time, according to the author, there was a lack of knowledge about the formation of the tissues and fibres of organic bodies and the ability to vivify matter. To this end the author studied not only the hard parts (the testaceous shells), but also the external habit of these animals and the peculiar circumstances of their habitat. Some of the entries, or scientific records in this work, are discoveries and scientific classifications of new species with collections made by the author himself.
