Óleo sobre tela, moderno, mostrando uma batalha naval com uma fragata britânica. Ao fundo o céu azul do Mar Mediterrâneo. Em primeiro plano temos três veleiros em pleno bombardeamento, vendo-se a proa de um quarto navio à direita.

Este magnífico quadro, apesar de moderno, foi inspirado pela escola inglesa e apresenta uma composição clássica de uma batalha naval. De acordo com alguns críticos, João Peixoto é um pintor excepcional deste tipo de temas que vão buscar inspiração ao estilo épico e romântico de tempos idos da história da Europa.

Modern oil on canvas showing a naval battle with an English frigate. In the background the sunny blue sky of the Mediterranean Sea. We can see three sailing ships and the edge of a forth ship on the right side of the painting, being the three ships engaged in the bombardment.

This a beautiful, unique, although modern painting inspired in the English school, with a classical battle composition. According to some reviews João Peixoto is an outstanding painter of this kind of paintings, re-enacting an epic and romantic style of times gone by in European history.
