Esta obra teve cerca de quarenta edições durante os séculos XVI e XVII.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEmbora sem dados bibliográficos concretos (autor, data, impressor e local de impressão) presentes nesta primeira edição, a autoria da obra e das gravuras é atribuível ao dominicano Fr. Alberto da Castello, identificado como autor ou editor nas licenças da Inquisição venesiana dadas em 1521, as mesmas estão impressas no verso do fólio Ae e na frente do fólio A3. Existe uma edição do ano seguinte exactamente com a mesma paginação e número de gravuras, com o seguinte pé de imprensa: Venetia: per Marchio Sessa et Piero di Rauani, 1522. O que poderá eventualmente indiciar que foram estes também os impressores da primeira edição.(?)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlberto da Castello (ca. 1460-1522) é também conhecido com os nomes: Alberto di Castello - Albertus Castellanus - Castello, Alberto da - Castellano, Alberto - Castellani, Alberto.
