Examina todos os sistemas que foram publicados atÃ© Ã  data sobre a teoria da Terra.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJean-Claude de La MÃ©therie (ou DelamÃ©therie) (La Clayette, 1743 â€“ Paris, 1817) foi um naturalista, mineralogista, geÃ³logo e paleontÃ³logo. Oriundo de uma famÃ­lia onde vÃ¡rios dos seus membros exerciam a medicina, MÃ©therie comeÃ§ou por estudar teologia na Sorbonne, chegando a receber quatro ordens menores no seminÃ¡rio de Saint-Louis. Contudo, aos vinte e dois anos, envergou pela medicina, obtendo o diploma de mÃ©dico em 1770. Instala-se em La Clayette, onde exerce atÃ© 1780. Paralelamente Ã  carreira profissional, escreveu \u003cem\u003ePrincipes de la philosophie naturelle\u003c\/em\u003e, que publica em Genebra em 1778. Decide entÃ£o dedicar-se Ã  investigaÃ§Ã£o, deixando o seu consultÃ³rio mÃ©dico e a sua parte da heranÃ§a ao seu irmÃ£o, Antoine â€” o pai faleceu por volta de 1780 â€” mudando-se para Paris.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA partir de 1780, frequenta o mundo cientÃ­fico, encontrando-se com Diderot e dâ€™Alembert. A partir daÃ­, consagra a vida ao trabalho cientÃ­fico. Foi colaborador do jornal \u003cem\u003eObservations sur lâ€™histoire naturelle, la physique, et la peinture ou Journal de physique, \u003c\/em\u003etornando-se o seu redator em maio de 1785. De marÃ§o de 1785 a fevereiro de 1817, MÃ©therie publica cerca de uma centena de artigos sobre as suas prÃ³prias investigaÃ§Ãµes. Em 1799 candidata-se ao CollÃ¨ge de France, sendo inicialmente recusado. Contudo, em 1801 Ã©-lhe atribuÃ­da uma cadeira de assistente de mineralogia e geologia.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDiscÃ­pulo de Newton e de Locke durante a sua juventude, e sensualista convicto, evoluiu para um materialismo radical e considerou a cristalizaÃ§Ã£o como o princÃ­pio da reproduÃ§Ã£o universal. Ã‰ mais conhecido pela sua longa e infrutÃ­fera polÃ©mica com Lavoisier. Em 1789, foi inicialmente favorÃ¡vel Ã  RevoluÃ§Ã£o, mas denunciou os seus excessos; as 'RÃ©flexions sur la RÃ©volution franÃ§aise' que publicou de 1789 a 1792 no Journal de physique e a sua hostilidade Ã  ConstituiÃ§Ã£o de 10 de agosto de 1792 levaram-no Ã  prisÃ£o. Escapou Ã  condenaÃ§Ã£o graÃ§as Ã  intervenÃ§Ã£o de um vizinho, alfaiate de profissÃ£o e membro do comitÃ© da sua comuna.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePierre Guillaume Alexandre Beljambe (Rouen, 1759 â€“ Paris, 1838) foi um prolÃ­fico desenhista e entalhador formado na Ã‰cole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, entre 1779 e 1782. Foi membro das Academias de Rouen, de Caen e de OrleÃ£es.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClaude Jacques NottÃ© (1752? â€“ 1837?), pintor do qual nÃ£o foi possÃ­vel obter mais informaÃ§Ã£o biogrÃ¡fica.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJosÃ© Joaquim Lopes PraÃ§a (AlijÃ³, 1844 - Montemor-o-Novo, 1920), ilustre filÃ³sofo, historiador, jornalista, ensaÃ­sta, constitucionalista, docente da Faculdade de Direito de Coimbra e mestre de Filosofia do malogrado prÃ­ncipe D. LuÃ­s Filipe, iniciou a atividade profissional como docente de estudos secundÃ¡rios em Montemor-o-Novo poucos meses apÃ³s a sua formatura em Direito.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e[EN] 5 Volumes. 20.5x13 cm. The third volume deals with the various types of crystallisation and the shape of the earth; the fourth contains extensive details on composite and volcanic rocks, caves, lakes, seas, streams...; the fifth contains a complete history of the formation of mountains and valleys, plants and animals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA classic work of mineralogy, praiseworthy for the large number of facts it gathers. It develops a unified system according to which all bodies in nature, including living organisms, are the product of crystallisation. It examines all the systems that have been published to date on the theory of the Earth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJean-Claude de La MÃ©therie (or DelamÃ©therie) (La Clayette, 1743 - Paris, 1817) was a naturalist, mineralogist, geologist and palaeontologist. Coming from a family where several of its members practised medicine, MÃ©therie began by studying theology at the Sorbonne and even took four minor orders at the Saint-Louis seminary. However, at the age of twenty-two, he turned to medicine and obtained his medical degree in 1770. He settled in La Clayette, where he practised until 1780. Alongside his professional career, he wrote \u003cem\u003ePrincipes de la philosophie naturelle\u003c\/em\u003e, which he published in Geneva in 1778. He then decided to devote himself to research, leaving his medical practice and his share of the inheritance to his brother, Antoine - his father died around 1780 - and moved to Paris.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrom 1780 onwards, he frequented the scientific world, meeting Diderot and d'Alembert. From then on, he devoted his life to scientific work. He was a contributor to the journal \u003cem\u003eObservations sur lâ€™histoire naturelle, la physique, et la peinture ou Journal de physique, \u003c\/em\u003e He became its editor in May 1785. From March 1785 to February 1817, MÃ©therie published around a hundred articles on his own research. In 1799 he applied to the CollÃ¨ge de France, but was initially rejected. However, in 1801 he was given an assistant chair in mineralogy and geology.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA disciple of Newton and Locke during his youth, and a convinced sensualist, he evolved towards radical materialism and considered crystallisation to be the principle of universal reproduction. He is best known for his long and fruitless polemic with Lavoisier. In 1789, he was initially in favour of the Revolution, but denounced its excesses; the 'RÃ©flexions sur la RÃ©volution franÃ§aise' that he published from 1789 to 1792 in the Journal de physique and his hostility to the Constitution of 10 August 1792 led to his imprisonment. He escaped conviction thanks to the intervention of a neighbour, a tailor by trade and member of his commune's committee.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePierre Guillaume Alexandre Beljambe (Rouen, 1759 - Paris, 1838) was a prolific draughtsman and carver who trained at the Ã‰cole des Beaux-Arts in Paris between 1779 and 1782.
