A narrativa cobre o período desde a abdicação de Carlos V, em 1556 até à queda da fortaleza de Rheinsberg, em 30 de Janeiro de 1590.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFamiano Strada (Roma 1572 - 1649) jesuíta, foi professor de Retórica no Colégio Romano. Em 1617, a pedido de Ranuccio Farnese, Duque de Parma, iniciou a elaboração de uma história das Guerras dos Países Baixos, que opuseram a Espanha e a Holanda cuja independência não era reconhecida pela primeira. Para escrever a sua obra Strada teve acesso ao Arquivo da Casa Farnese, destruído posteriormente, que continha importante documentação pois o pai de Ranuccio, Alexandre Farnese tinha sido Governador dos Países Baixos, ao serviço dos reis espanhóis. Além desta história escreveu uma obra muito influente no ensino da literatura classica latina - Prolusiones et Paradeigmata Eloquentiae, Roma, 1617.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSir Robert Stapylton (Carlton, Yorkshire 1600? - London 1669) poeta, dramaturgo e tradutor inglês. Foi educado no Convento Beneditino de Douai, onde professou em 1625. Depois de deixar a Ordem, passou a servir os reis de Inglaterra Carlos I e depois Carlos II, tendo passado uma vida retirada durante a ditadura de Cromwel. É autor de diversas peças de teatro, poesias e traduções de importantes obras clássicas, tais como o Panegírico de Plínio, o Jovem; as primeiras seis sátiras de Juvenal; Os amores de Hero e Leandro e as Sátiras completas de Juvenal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e[EN] In folio. 29x18 cm.
