Monge Cisterciense, foi admitido na sua ordem no Convento de Nossa Senhora de Tamarais de Leiria, onde, posteriormente, foi Abade até ao fim da sua vida. Foi enviado a estudar na Universidade de Paris por D. João III. Além desta obra é autor de uma carta ao Cardeal D. Henrique, sobre o Convento de Lorvão e as Rainhas Teresa e Sancha nele sepultadas. Deixou inédita outra obra - In Septem Psalmos paenitentiales.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJoão de Barreira (15? - Lisboa, 1590) Foi um dos mais importantes impressores do século XVI, responsável por cerca de uma centena de trabalhos tipográficos. Exerceu a sua profissão em Lisboa, onde tinha a oficina junto do Arco de S. Mamede, em Braga e em Coimbra, onde manteve uma parceria com João Álvares, desde 1548 a 1586. Também teve uma parceria, em 1565, com Marcos Borges. Usou o título de Tipógrafo régio e da Universidade e também foi impressor da Companhia de Jesus, tendo recebido em 1567 um alvará concedendo-lhe a exclusividade por oito anos na impressão dos livros da Companhia de Jesus em Portugal, embora já trabalhasse para a Companhia desde o início da instalação dos jesuítas em Portugal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlém de impressor, João de Barreira tinha conhecimentos de matemática, astronomia e foi um escritor. É autor da obra - Reportório dos tempos, Coimbra, 1547, com 2.ª edição em 1582, acrescentou uma poesia religiosa da sua autoria a uma das obras que publicou em Coimbra, 1547 e escreveu a dedicatória da obra de Miguel de Castanhoso sobre D.
